The local shop and Post Office in Ampleforth sells basic supplies and fresh produce. There are small Costcutter and Co-op supermarkets in Helmsley (4 miles) and larger Tesco, Lidl and Aldi supermarkets in Thirsk (12 miles).
Local outdoor markets are held in Helmsley on Fridays; Thirsk on Mondays and Saturdays; and Ampleforth on the last Saturday of each month.
Helmsley also has a good selection of bakeries, deli's and ice cream shops selling delicious local produce.
